Microsoft To Announce 4G LTE Enabled Smartwatch Next Year
The Redmond-based Microsoft is reportedly testing out intelligent watch. The Windows 8 maker is planning to take on Apple's iWatch with its own branded surface watch. In the coming days, more details are expected to arrive. Since Microsoft's wearable computer device is in prototype stage, one could see the watch coming to markets next year.
Now according to Among Tech, the software giant is indeed working on smart watch. After making Surface range of tablets, the upcoming intelligent watch is said to be company's dream project. Reportedly, the prototypes of watch are being used by Microsoft employees. It was said earlier that the Surface watch project was handled by Xbox team.
It seems that Microsoft has made a separate team, who is currently looking after the development. This methodology is also being adopted by Tim Cook. Apple is also working on iWatch, since past few months. More than a team of 100 engineers are working on iOS powered smart watch.
Microsoft designed smart watch will be available in different colors (Red, Yellow, Black, Blue, Grey and White). It is reported that Oxynitride Aluminum will be used to craft the intelligent wrist watch. Oxynitrideis 80% transparent material, however, it is 4 times harder than glass.
The watch will be powered by Windows 8, and it is not necessary to see the device being used in place of smartphones. Well, it is also believed that Surface -branded watch will be stuffed with 4G LTE connectivity and 6GB of internal memory. There is a possibility to see sync with company's cloud facility.
Earlier in the year, a report by The Verge started that Microsoft had placed orders for 1.5-inch displays. This could mean that Xbox marker is serious about getting into smart watch market. Apart from Microsoft, the South Korean giant Samsung is working on smart watch. It is said that the watch will be based on Tizen OS instead of Android. At the same time, LG is also believed to be working on its intelligent watch project.
After the success of Pebble watch, there are plenty of unknown vendors working on smart watches. The craze of smart watch is not restricted to just Apple or Samsung. Dell, who is now reeling under pressure with dwindling PC sales, could make an intelligent watch in future. Stay tuned to GizBot
