AMD Launches FidelityFX SDK 2.0 With FSR 4 For Enhanced Game Development
AMD has introduced the FidelityFX SDK 2.0, alongside the release of FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 for developers. This development marks a significant step towards advanced Neural Rendering technologies and FSR Redstone. The update was unveiled at Gamescom 2025, showcasing AMD's commitment to enhancing its FidelityFX suite.
The new SDK enables developers to seamlessly integrate cutting-edge technologies like ML-based neural rendering and FSR Redstone into their games. This update aims to streamline the deployment of future ML-based technologies while maintaining existing features as version 1.1.4.

Key Features of FidelityFX SDK 2.0
The AMD FidelityFX SDK 2.0 introduces a range of new features, including AMD FSR 4 upscaling and FSR 3.1.5 analytical frame generation. These enhancements are designed to prepare for the next generation of AMD hardware and machine learning technologies.
With this update, future releases of AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition drivers can automatically update the ML-based technologies used in games without requiring individual game updates. This ensures players always experience the latest technology available.
Games that have previously integrated AMD FSR 3.1 or later versions will automatically upgrade to FSR 4 Upscaling technology through future AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition releases. Similarly, games using AMD FSR 3.1.4 will be eligible for automatic upgrades to upcoming FSR ML Frame Generation technology.
FSR 4 Enhancements
FSR 4 offers significant improvements over its predecessor, FSR 3, by utilising ML/AI for enhanced upscaling capabilities. Key improvements include reduced ghosting on moving objects, better preservation of particle effects, superior detail retention, and temporal stability.

The transition from FSR 3.1 to FSR 4 is simplified due to its reliance on the same API, making it easier for developers to adopt the new version. Additionally, pre-built signed DLLs are available as part of FidelityFX SDK 2.0, along with a UE-specific plugin supporting versions from 5.1 to 5.6.
System Requirements
The FidelityFX SDK 2.0 with FSR 4 requires a Radeon RX 9000 Series GPU or higher, whereas the SDK with FSR 3.1.5 upscaling/frame generation needs a GPU supporting Shader Model 6.2 or above.
Furthermore, AMD has incorporated its latest FSR 4.0.2 into GPUOpen, providing developers access to state-of-the-art upscaling and frame-generation methods. This announcement signals that AMD is advancing towards launching its FSR Redstone update, potentially narrowing the gap with NVIDIA in neural rendering techniques.
