Apple Mac Mini with M4 and M4 Pro Chips Launched in India: Debuts as First Carbon Neutral Mac

Apple has unveiled an updated Mac mini, featuring the M4 and M4 Pro chips. These advancements enhance performance and connectivity within a compact 5 by 5-inch design. The new model focuses on power efficiency and innovative thermal architecture, delivering up to 1.8x faster CPU and 2.2x faster GPU performance compared to its M1 predecessor.

The environmental impact of the Mac mini is noteworthy as it has become Apple's first carbon-neutral Mac. This achievement results from over an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Apple accomplished this by using recycled materials, renewable electricity for manufacturing, and investing in clean energy projects globally.

Performance and Connectivity Enhancements

The M4 Pro variant further boosts performance with up to 14-core CPUs and 20-core GPUs. It introduces hardware-accelerated ray tracing and supports up to 64GB of unified memory. This makes the Mac mini a powerful yet compact desktop solution.

Connectivity options have been enhanced, with the M4 model featuring Thunderbolt 4 ports, while the M4 Pro includes Thunderbolt 5 ports. Both models support up to three 6K displays, broadening their appeal for various users.

Environmental Milestones and Pricing

The packaging of the Mac mini has also been upgraded to be fully fiber-based, aligning with Apple's goal to eliminate plastic by 2025. This reflects Apple's commitment to environmental responsibility in its product design.

The Mac mini starts with 16GB of memory, priced at Rs 59,900. Pre-orders are available immediately, while units will begin shipping from November 8, 2024.

Apple Intelligence Features

Apple Intelligence capabilities enhance the user experience on the Mac mini without compromising privacy. New personal intelligence features include systemwide Writing Tools and a redesigned Siri that understands contextual personal requests.

The integration of ChatGPT further enriches the user experience while maintaining privacy through on-device processing and secure cloud compute options.

macOS Sequoia Integration

The launch is complemented by macOS Sequoia, which enriches the Mac mini experience with features like iPhone Mirroring and a redesigned Safari. Immersive gaming experiences are also part of this comprehensive approach to performance and connectivity.
