Computex 2024 | AMD Announces Zen-5 Ryzen 9000 CPUs, Ryzen AI 300 for PCs, More
At the Computex 2024 event in Taipei, Taiwan, AMD showcased its newest Zen 5 CPU architecture and XDNA 2 GPU NPU architecture. These innovations power the AMD Ryzen 9000 series processors for gaming PCs and the third-generation Ryzen AI processors for ultrabooks.

Ryzen AI 300 Series Unveiled
AMD's third-generation processors for AI PCs feature a dedicated NPU, delivering up to 50 trillion operations per second (TOPs). This capability supports on-device AI tasks like real-time translation, live captioning, and co-creation. The Ryzen AI 300 series includes a 12-core CPU and a GPU based on RDNA 3.5 architecture.
The flagship AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chip boasts up to 50 TOPs and 16 compute units. The Ryzen AI 9 365 chip offers similar AI performance with 10 CPU cores and 40 TOPs. Both models will be available from July 2024 on platforms like Copilot+ PCs and AI+ PCs.
AMD Ryzen 9000 Series Desktop Processors
AMD claims its new Ryzen 9000 series processors, based on the AM5 platform, are the most advanced desktop processors to date. They support PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 technologies, offering a 16% improvement in instructions per core (IPC) over the Zen 4 processors.

The flagship Ryzen 9 9950X processor features 16 cores, 32 threads, and a clock speed of up to 5.7 GHz within a 170W thermal design power (TDP). It surpasses the Intel Core i9-14900K in graphics bandwidth and AI acceleration, showing up to 56% better performance on Blender benchmarks and 23% higher frame rates in gaming.

Additional Processors and Availability
The Ryzen 9000 series also includes the Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 9700X, and Ryzen 9600X. These processors will be available in the market starting July 2024. Additionally, AMD introduced the Ryzen 9 5900XT and Ryzen 7 5800XT within the Ryzen 5000 series, both shipping with an AMD Wraith Prism Cooler.
The new processors are expected to provide users with enhanced performance and advanced AI capabilities, making them suitable for a wide range of computing needs.
