Intel Core Ultra 200S Plus Desktop Processors Debut With More Cores And Faster Memory Support
Intel has introduced a new lineup of desktop processors under the Core Ultra 200S Plus series, expanding its enthusiast desktop portfolio with two new chips. The announcement includes the Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus, both designed for gaming systems and high-performance desktop setups.

The company says the new processors bring architectural refinements along with improvements aimed at boosting overall desktop performance. Retail availability for the chips is scheduled to begin on March 26, 2026, through retail partners and system integrators.
New Core Ultra 200S Plus Models
The new lineup includes two processors positioned for enthusiast desktop builds.
The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus features 24 cores, made up of 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores. Meanwhile, the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus comes with 18 cores, including 6 performance cores and 12 efficiency cores.

Intel says the chips also bring a die-to-die frequency increase of up to 900MHz compared to earlier Core Ultra 200-series processors. This change increases the speed of the link between the CPU and memory controller, which can help reduce system latency and improve responsiveness in demanding workloads.
Another notable detail is platform continuity. The processors will remain compatible with existing 800-series chipset motherboards, meaning users with compatible systems may be able to upgrade their processor without replacing the entire platform.
A New Optimization Tool For Gaming
Alongside the hardware updates, Intel is introducing a feature called the Intel Binary Optimization Tool.
The tool is designed to improve performance in certain workloads and games by optimizing processor instructions, even when the software was originally optimized for different hardware architectures. Intel positions it as part of a broader effort to improve real-world performance through both hardware and software optimization.
Memory And Platform Improvements
The new processors also expand memory capabilities. The Core Ultra 200S Plus series supports DDR5 memory speeds of up to 7200 MT/s, which is an increase compared to earlier models in the same platform.
Intel is also enabling early support for 4-Rank CUDIMM memory modules, which can provide higher memory capacity for desktop systems. These modules are expected to be supported on select motherboards built on Intel’s 800-series chipset.
The company also notes that new 800-series motherboard designs are expected to arrive during 2026.
Pricing And Availability
Intel says the processors will be available starting March 26, 2026, through retail partners and PC manufacturers.
The Core Ultra 5 250K Plus will start at $199, while the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus will start at $299. Systems built around these processors are expected to appear around the same time, depending on the manufacturer.
