MediaTek Dimensity 7400, Dimensity 7400X Chips Announced with AI Enhancements and Improve Imaging Capabilities

MediaTek has introduced its latest mobile processors, the Dimensity 7400 and Dimensity 7400X. These new chipsets are successors to the Dimensity 7300 and 7300X models from last year. They bring enhancements in AI processing and gaming capabilities, aiming to elevate the mobile user experience with improved performance and energy efficiency.

The MediaTek Dimensity 7400 series is crafted using TSMC's advanced 4nm process technology. Both chipsets feature an octa-core CPU, comprising four Cortex-A78 cores at 2.6GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz. This configuration ensures efficient handling of both routine tasks and demanding applications.

Enhanced Gaming and Connectivity Features

The Mali-G615 MC2 GPU is optimised for mobile gaming, ensuring smooth graphics rendering. In terms of memory, these chipsets support LPDDR5 and LPDDR4X RAM with speeds up to 6400Mbps. For storage, they are compatible with UFS 3.1 and UFS 2.2, facilitating faster data transfer rates.

Connectivity options are robust, featuring support for 5G with 3CC carrier aggregation, achieving peak downlink speeds of 3.27 Gbps. Additionally, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 enhance wireless communication capabilities.

Advanced Imaging Capabilities

The imaging prowess of the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 series is notable with the integration of the Imagiq 950 ISP. It supports camera sensors up to 200MP and enables 4K HDR video recording at 30fps. AI-driven autofocus, video EIS, and hardware-based face detection further enhance photo and video quality.

The MiraVision 955 display engine ensures sharp visuals, supporting WFHD+ at a refresh rate of 120Hz and Full HD+ at 144Hz for smooth screen performance.

AI Processing and Battery Efficiency

An upgrade in the AI processing unit, APU 655, delivers a performance boost of 15 percent. UltraSave 3.0+ technology contributes to battery efficiency by reducing gaming power consumption by up to 36 percent. Google Ultra HDR support improves dynamic range in photos and videos for better colour accuracy.

Dimensity Variants: Tailored for Different Devices

While both chipsets share many features, the MediaTek Dimensity 7400X is specifically optimised for foldable devices with additional power management features that enhance efficiency during multi-screen usage. The standard Dimensity 7400 is designed for regular smartphones. Devices equipped with these chipsets are anticipated to be available in the first quarter of 2025.
