Meltdown and Spectre flaws also affect all Apple Mac and iOS devices
Apple is known to use Intel processors in its Mac computers and ARM-based architecture for its A-series processors that power iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Apple Watches.
Almost every computing machine on this planet is affected by the recently discovered Meltdown and Spectre flaws, including Apple products. However, the Cupertino tech giant has said that its users don't need to worry as updates are already available to fix the issues. Apple, has already acknowledged the potential security flaw in its MAC and iOS devices but there are no known exploits impacting customers at this time.
Security researchers have also cleared that none of the Apple devices are affected at the moment. So users can take a breath of relief. However, Apple has advised its customers to download softwares only from trusted sources- Mac App Stores to help prevent any possible processor vulnerabilities.
Besides, as per a report published on The guardian.com, Apple is also developing protections against the Spectre flaw for its Safari browser for iOS and macOS devices. Apple will soon, release them to help stop potential exploitation via JavaScript running in the browser from a website.
Both the "Spectre" and "Meltdown" flaws affect the performance of CPU feature called Speculative Execution" which is responsible for improving speed and operate multiple operations.
Apple watch however was safe from the security flaw. Apple has released some security updates for iOS 11.2, macOS10.13.2 and tvOS 11.2 to defend "Meltdown" security flaw.
Apple is continuously developing and testing various mitigations and will release new updates further in all iOS, macOS and tvOS to tackle the situation.
