Nvidia Unveils Budget-Friendly GeForce RTX 4060 Series, Starting at $299
Nvidia has recently made an exciting announcement about its upcoming GeForce RTX 40 series of consumer graphics cards. In particular, they have unveiled a range of mid-range models known as the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 series.
This new lineup consists of three models: the RTX 4060, the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB, and the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB. With these releases, Nvidia aims to deliver affordable gaming powerhouses that cater to the needs of budget-conscious gamers.

Nvidia RTX 4060: Specs & Features
The Nvidia RTX 4060 is equipped with the AD107 GPU, which boasts an impressive 3072 CUDA cores. These cores account for approximately 52% of the AD104 found in the higher-end 4070 model. The base clock speed of the RTX 4060 is 1.83GHz, with a boost clock speed of 2.46GHz.
Nvidia claims that the RTX 4060 performs 1.2 times faster than the previous generation RTX 3060 and 1.6 times faster than the RTX 2060 without frame generation.
The RTX 4060 has 8GB of GDDR6 memory running at 17Gbps, with a memory interface of 128 bits. It has 24MB of L2 cache and utilizes the 3rd-Gen RT cores and 4th-Gen Tensor cores, which are also present in other Ada Lovelace cards.
These features enable the RTX 4060 to support advanced functionalities such as DLSS 3 Frame Generation. Moreover, it includes a single 8th Gen Nvidia Encoder (NVENC) for efficient encoding and decoding of AV1 content.
When it comes to power requirements, the RTX 4060 has a total power rating of 115W. Manufacturers have the flexibility to equip it with either a single 12VHPWR connector or a single 8-pin or 6-pin connector, depending on their design choices.
It's worth noting that Nvidia will not be offering a Founders Edition card directly for the RTX 4060, leaving the design and distribution to their board partners.
Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti: Specs & Features
Building upon the foundation set by the RTX 4060, Nvidia also introduces the RTX 4060 Ti to cater to gamers seeking higher performance. The RTX 4060 Ti features the larger AD106 GPU, which houses an impressive 4342 CUDA cores, accounting for approximately 57% of the AD106 found in the 4070 Ti GPU.
With a base clock speed of 2.31GHz and a boost clock speed of 2.54GHz, the RTX 4060 Ti provides a significant performance boost over the previous generation RTX 3060 Ti and the RTX 2060 Super without frame generation.

The RTX 4060 Ti is available in two memory configurations: 8GB GDDR6 or 16GB GDDR6. Regardless of the memory capacity, it utilizes a 128-bit memory interface and operates at a speed of 18Gbps. It also includes 32MB of L2 cache, ensuring efficient data access and processing.
In terms of power consumption, the 8GB model requires 160W, while the 16GB model has a slightly higher power requirement of 165W. Apart from these differences, the specifications of the RTX 4060 Ti are largely similar to those of the RTX 4060.
It's important to note that while the 8GB model of the RTX 4060 Ti will be available directly from Nvidia and its board partners, the 16GB model will only be available through board partners. This allows Nvidia's partners to provide varying options to gamers, catering to their specific needs and preferences.
Nvidia RTX 4060 Series: Price & Availability
Nvidia aims to make the RTX 4060 series highly accessible to gamers by offering competitive price points. The RTX 4060, priced at $299, provides an affordable entry point for those looking to upgrade their gaming experience. This model is set to be released in July, giving gamers ample time to plan their purchases.
As for the RTX 4060 Ti, Nvidia offers two variants with different memory capacities. The 8GB model is priced at $399, while the 16GB model comes in at $499.
The 8GB variant is scheduled to be available starting Wednesday, May 24, providing an immediate option for gamers looking for a budget-oriented GPU. However, those interested in the 16GB variant will have to wait until July for its release.
