Qualcomm Unveils New 8-Core Snapdragon X Plus Processor for Affordable Copilot+ PCs at IFA 2024
Qualcomm has unveiled the new Snapdragon X Plus 8-core SoC for Copilot+ PCs, following the release of a 10-core version this year. This announcement was made ahead of the IFA 2024 event.
The Snapdragon X Plus 8-Core is powered by an 8-core Qualcomm Oryon CPU, which boasts a 61% increase in CPU performance. According to Qualcomm, competitors need 179% more power to achieve a similar peak performance. This SoC is built using the same 4nm process node and technology as other Snapdragon X series chips.

Enhanced Performance and Efficiency
For single-thread performance, the Snapdragon X Plus offers up to 22% faster CPU speeds compared to competitors at ISO power levels. Qualcomm also noted that competitors require 121% more power for peak performance. In terms of multithread performance, this SoC is 41% faster, with competitors needing 124% more power.
The integrated GPU supports up to three external monitors, providing exceptional graphics and immersive visual experiences. Additionally, it includes the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU capable of handling AI-driven applications with its 45 TOPS capacity, promising significant advancements in on-device AI computing.
Market Availability and Pricing
Starting today, PCs from brands like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung will feature the Snapdragon X Plus 8-Core. These devices will be priced starting at USD 799 (approximately Rs. 67,105), according to Qualcomm.
