RTX 4090 Ti Cancelled Due To GPU and PSU Melting Issues?

NVIDIA RTX 4080 and the RTX 4090 GPUs are finally here. While they are definitely more powerful than their predecessors, they will also burn a hole in your pocket with their exorbitant price tag. A new report now comes from YouTuber Moore's Law is Dead stating the upcoming RTX 4090 Ti will not only put a dent in your savings, but it will also melt your PSU (power supply) and could even burn your house if you are not careful.

Youtube claims that NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Ti is too powerful and the launch has been postponed. The RTX 4090 Ti is apparently melting the PSUs and the GPU itself. The report also suggests that NVIDIA has enough time to fix all these issues, and the GPU will only be launched after stabilizing and optimizing the RTX 4090 Ti.

It looks like NVIDIA is trying to increase the power input to squeeze in every ounce of gaming performance from the GPU, which could result in excess heat. This also indicates that the performance difference between Ada Lovelace and Ampere architecture is very limited, and a significant amount of the improved performance comes from software technologies like DLSS 3.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Ti Details

Leaks suggest that the RTX 4090 Ti will have a TGP of 475W, making it the most power-hungry graphics card. The GPU is said to feature 24GB of fast GDDR6x video memory, and the graphics card will have a peak clock speed of up to 3GHz, delivering excellent gaming performance.

The RTX 4090 Ti is said to offer around 20 percent improvement in performance when compared to the RTX 4090. As for the pricing, the RTX 4090 Ti could easily cost around Rs. 2,00,000 in India.

The Competition

With Intel joining the GPU game, NVIDIA has to compete against more players. To survive and thrive in the market, NVIDIA should offer high-performance graphics cards at affordable pricing, especially in the entry-level segment.

The recently launched Intel Arc A770 seems to deliver better performance than the RTX 3060. Given Intel is a fairly new player in the GPU game, it is interesting that it can actually match the price-to-performance ratio of a brand that has been doing the consumer graphics cards business for decades.

As far as high-end GPUs are concerned, NVIDIA has no reason to worry, and the company has been delivering some of the most powerful consumer graphics cards over the last few years. The recently launched RTX 4080 is more powerful than the RTX 3090 Ti, which was also launched a few months back.
