Nexus 7 to Mark 5 Million Sales By 2012-end

According to a leading Taiwanese supplier, 5 million Asus Nexus 7 devices will be shipped by the end of this year. The report was published by Digitimes. Nexus 7 has gained attention for its affordable pricing compared to its competitors. It seems that the newly added 32GB model option and its availability in form are also some of the reasons that have resulted in its sales exceeding the expectations during the holiday season.

The report has however, throws some concern around Apple"s sales of their latest iPad Mini model. The company is currently selling 4 million units a month only which is far below their expectations. Some of the analysts foresee Asus Nexus 7 giving hot competition to Apple and other manufacturers in the smaller tablet segment. The report even says that Nexus 7 stock got over in both Google Play and Google"s partner AT & T stores in no time reflecting its super sales turnover.

Nexus 7"s 16 GB version is available for users at a price tag of $199 (approximately Rs.12,000) where as the 32GB version is available for $249 (approximately Rs.13,000). Things turned around for Google when it announced on November 13 the availability of 32GB '3G-enabled Nexus 7" for a price tag of $299 (approximately Rs.16,000).

The source stated that while International Vendors generally places orders for shipments in the month of October and November for meeting year-end peak demand that usually begins by late November, Nexus 7 shipments hopes to remain consistent at a high level of 7,00,000 to 1,000,000 units in November and December. It seems that the drop in prices has worked out in favor of Asus and Google boosting the Nexus 7 sales.
