Olympics branded tablets from Acer
With the 2012 Olympics a few months away, Acer has come up with Olympics branded tablets which work on Android platform. The Olympics branded tablets will include Iconia Tab A510 and A700. The tablets are expected to be in the stores this month. It is quite natural that one might doubt the connection between Olympics and tablets.
The Olympic branded tablets will have the Olympic logo besides the Acer logo. The tablet will also have the Olympics rings printed on the back side. The A510 will feature a 10.1 inch screen with a resolution of 1280 X 800. It is powered by quad core 1.3 GHz Tegra 3 processor. The tab runs on the latest Android platform, the ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’. The company claims a battery backup of 15 hours, even with HD video playback.
The Iconia tablet A700 uses 1.3 GHz Tegra 3 processor and Android ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’. The only difference with A510 is the higher resolution of 1920 X 1200. The tablets are stuffed with different proprietary software from Acer. One such software is the Acer Print, which will allow you to print documents and images through wireless printers. Acer has to its credit 87 per cent of the market share in the printer business. One another software in the tablet is the Polaris Office which Acer claims is compatible with Microsoft Office. It can be used to open and edit Microsoft Office files.
The tablets offer a wonderful media experience for the users. It features media enhancement software along with Dolby Mobile 3+ on board. It helps to process the audio and also offers 5.1 channel outputs which can be connected to a home system. There is no clarity on any additional features that are present in the Olympics branded tablets other than the above said specifications. These tablets are not specifically designed for the London Olympics, but for Olympics as a whole.
However Acer has announced that they will have other devices that will be specifically branded for the Olympics Games in London. The normal versions of the tablet are also available, but for someone with a special taste can go for the Olympics branded as a collector’s item.
The Acer Iconia Tab A501 and A700 will be offered in two colors; white and black. The prices of both the tablets are not yet known. The company expects that Olympics will be a great time for business this year.
