Rcom Launches 3G Tablet
Just like the mobile handsets, the tablet battle seems to be going aggressive in the Indian market. Not only giants like Motorola and Samsung are making waves with their latest releases like Xoom and Galaxy Tab 10.1, but Indian vendors like Maxx and Beetel are also entering the fray. Now mobile operators are not willing to step back from this. Reliance Communication joins this race with the launch of a new Android based 3G tablet.

Reliance brings this Android 2.3 version based tablet, manufactured by ZTE into the Indian market at an aggressive price of Rs 12999. The company plans to launch this device and bundle it along with attractive 3G tariff plans in 13 circles. Initially this will be available in the metro cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. Release in the other 10 circles will be by this weekend.

According the company, they feel that availability of a full feature driven tablet at such an aggressive price range would help to capture a lion share of the price conscious middle class Indian consumers.

New 3G Android tablet, christened Reliance 3G Tab has a 7 inch capacitive type touch screen. Now size of the screen could be one delimiting factor here as Samsung is planning an 8.9 inch variant of their Galaxy tab. Let us look at some of the other features of Reliance 3G Tab too.

Talking about the memory features of Reliance 3G Tab, though the internal memory is not attractive considering the multimedia and streaming features, which needs to be supported, but provision of micro SD card memory slot can help to expand the memory up to 32 GB. It has an internal memory capacity of 512 MB. The good thing about the SD card slot is that it weighs just 389 grams, which is quite light compared to other models in the market place. Reliance is offering a free 4GB external memory SD card too. Thus memory capabilities can longer be considered drawback in this tablet.

Reliance 3G Tab has 2 cameras provided at the front and back side. The rear camera is having 2 mega pixel resolutions, good enough to capture images with reasonable quality. This is capable of supporting all the standard 3G features like video calling, watching TV over Mobile and navigation through GPS. Talking about the business features, Reliance 3G Tab has got pre-loaded applications to support push email and also for viewing and editing office documents.

Apart from the features of this Android 3G tablet, Reliance is bundling attractive tariff plans, both usage based and monthly on an effort to make these devices attractive as well as win more customers as 3G market is really heating up in India.
