With the advent of LTE networks many manufactures are launching there devices which supports the same. Many LTE smart phones have been launched till now and the tablet segment is also moving on to this new technology. The latest news in the tech world is that Research in motion (RIM) is going to launch a new tablet which will belong to their PlayBook series and this device would be having LTE capabilities.
The new PlayBook will be launched in a few months time according to Thorstern Heins who is the chief executive of RIM. He said that RIM will be launching the new PlayBook by this spring and the device will be featuring a high speed wireless connection based on LTE network.
This device was scheduled to be launched last year itself, but it didn’t happen so because of some technical difficulties. Some of the websites have even published the devices specs and according to their posts, the new PlayBook will be running on a 1.5GHz processor. Also the gadget will have RAM of 1 GB.
The new PlayBook is expected to create some serious competition for Apples iPad. If the pricing of RIM’s device is perfect then it may attract more prospective buyers. The news of the 4G device came some days after a website reported that RIM will be launching 3G is going to bring 3G in 2013. It appears as if the company has gone one step further.
BlackBerry has recently reduced the price of their PlayBook tablets. The prices where almost halved and this was done to clear out the present stocks by increasing the sales. Also it is because of the fact that the tablet did not get as much success as the company hoped. The main reason for this is the devices very high price tag.
Most of the common people would not be able to afford it and add to it the fact that more cheap better alternatives are available caused a serious decline in the sales of the gadget. Also the device had a major flaw that in order to use BBM service the tablet has to tether to a BlackBerry mobile phone. The new PlayBook is expected to not have these problems.
RIM’s PlayBook 4G can be expected to come out by May. The price tag of the device or other technical details has not been announced yet officially by the company. More details and specs can be expected in the coming months.
