Samsung Prepping 11.8-inch Retina-like Display Tablet: Will it Dwarf Apple's New iPad?

It seems like South Korean tech giant Samsung is not in any mood to share the spotlight in the technology segment with any of its competitor this year.

The consumer electronics manufacturer has already launched the much- awaited smartphone -- Galaxy S3 and is also expected to come with the next flagship model of Galaxy Note. However, this time, the company is in news to be prepping a huge tablet with Retina-like display to give head-to-head competition to the revolutionary Apple's New iPad.

The recent newsbreak has been revealed from the latest court documents which were filed by the company during the Apple vs Samsung court battle that started in California on July 30.

Lately, with the help of the same documents, numerous reports had claimed that Samsung was in works to launch two Windows Phone 8 handsets, called Odyssey and Marco later this year. Additionally, now these documents have also revealed South Korean manufacturer plans concerning future tablet with Retina-like display for 2012.

What Features to Expect?

According to court documents, the rumored Samsung tablet -- codenamed 'P10' -- will have a screen resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, that will be much higher as compared to the Apple iPad's 2,048 x 1,536-pixels with 256 ppi. Additionally, the screen size of the Samsung tablet would be 11.8-inch with 16:10 screen ratio.

The images of the files on The Verge reports also revealed that the 11.8-inch P10 tablet would come equipped with Wi-Fi and LTE capability. Additionally, the same documents suggested that P4 Creative aka Galaxy Note 10.1, P2 aka 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 and P8 LTE tablets were tagged for 2011.

The first newsbreak of this kind was report by BGR towards the end of last year, when they learned from a trusted source that Samsung is set to launch an 11.6-inch tablet running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in 2012. their report also mentioned the same whopping resolution display and the11.6-inch screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio.

Further, BGR report also added that the tablet will be powered by a dual-core Exynos 5250 CPU clocked at 2GHz and will also feature Android Beam for easy syncing of media with a Galaxy Nexus, and a special wireless docking mode for gaming on HDTVs to take on a direct battle wit with Apple TV, AirPlay and more.

Competition

This is an interesting turn of events with the latest speculations, as it would mean Samsung going head-to-head with both Microsoft and Apple. With the integration of the newest operating system Windows 8, Microsoft Surface also seems to ramp up the tablet space with its breakthrough features. Meanwhile, Apple's New iPad has already tasted the success with constantly booming sales.
