Samsung had introduced the really sleek 15.6-inch Series 7 Chronos 700Z5A laptop that can easily compete against the MacBook Pro. Indeed this is a lighter laptop and is available for a much lesser price too. It has a high resolution matt screen and is powered by a Core i7 quad-core CPU (Core i5 version is also available). Series 7 Chronos also features offers graphic s capable for gaming and 750GB HDD and 8GB SSD storage. It also has a good deal of battery life.

Aesthetically, Samsung Series 7 Chronos 700Z5A is attractive too with a sleek profile and an aluminium or brushed metal appearance. It is equipped with 1GB Radeon HD 6750M graphics. Samsung has made the laptop quite easy to use. It has a chiclet keyboard that is quite large and the number pad is also large enough and there are no space constraints. In fact the keys in the keyboard are too widely spaced and smooth. The keyboard has a strong LED backlighting that seems to come on when the environment gets dark. The Chronos’ touchpad is button-less. This could take some time getting used to since it isn’t quite precise. But the clicking is quite crisp.

The screen panels on the Chronos 700Z5A are certainly among the best out there. The matt finish is good in the sense that the visually disturbing reflections you’d normally get under a light source or sunlight with a glossy screen won’t appear in a matt screen. But a glossy screen offers greater vividness of colour and enhances contrast, which you may not find in a matt finish screen. But this isn’t a major issue.

The even backlighting ensures no light comes out to affect your screen visibility, and this is felt particularly in dark games or movies. The screen is quite bright and also provides good black differentiation and clearly visible greyscale distinctions.

Performance-wise too, Samsung Series 7 Chronos truly surprises. It’s available as Intel Core i5 as well as Core i7 versions. Reports of the tested Core i7 model are positive. The Intel Core i7-2675QM supports a maximum of eight visual cores and turbo clocks up to 3.1GHz. This processor only needs the available RAM of 8GB to make this Series 7 Chronos 700Z5A laptop absolutely rocking.

The Chronos comes with two USB 3.0 ports, a USB 2.0 port, a standard HDMI port, a micro HDMI port SDXC card reader, a modified Gigabit Ethernet port and of course DVD rewriter slot-loader. More connectivity options are provided with Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi N.

With Series 7 Chronos 700Z5A, Samsung seems to have a winner in its hands with the tested Core i7 model pleasantly surprising with its terrific performance. The price range of the gadget is approximately around Rs. 45000/-.
