Second Generation Nexus 7 To Arrive Next Month

The second generation Nexus 7 is speculated to arrive next month. Google was supposed to officially announce improved Nexus 7 at Google I/O 2013, but the software giant didn't announce. The first generation Nexus 7 was first made available in the month of July last year. It changed the position of Android mobile OS in the tablet market. Asus, the original OEM partner manufactured Nexus 7. The first generation Nexus 7 was launched in India earlier this year.

Now according to a report by Digitimes, the second generation Nexus 7 could be announce next-month. The exact release date is unknown at the moment. The report further says the tablet will be priced around $229 (Rs. 13,262) for the 16GB version. The original Nexus 7 was priced $199 (Rs. 11,525) in the International market.

"As first-tier brand vendors have been trying to expand their sales through price cuts, Google is not looking to follow suit, but will instead focus on defending the US$199-249 segment of the 7-inch tablet market and target competitors such as Amazon and Apple, a source close to Digitimes shared details. "

The improved version of Nexus 7 is said to have a 7-inch Full HD display with resolution of 1,920 x 1200 pixels. Its predecessor had same 7-inch display but the resolution was limited to 720p HD. Instead of Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset, the new version could be seen using Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor. The first generation Nexus 7 was not a compete device. For instance, the makers didn't include rear facing camera in the device. Now it is said that a high quality rear and front facing camera would be included. The street is abuzz with rumors of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. And the sequel to Nexus 7 is supposed to run updated version of Android.

Industry insiders believe that the Apple is also prepping a cheaper version of iPad Mini at sub $250. However, details are pretty scarce at this hour. Samsung, the South Korean giant recently came up with Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0. The latter tablet is powered by Intel inside. Samsung stands at No.2 globally, when it comes to selling tablets globally, as per IDC. At this year's Computex show held at Taiwan, Acer announced world's first 8-inch tablet powered by Windows.
