Viewsonic Viewpad 10 Quick Preview
The Tablet PC market is all set to achieve major milestones in the near future as more and more manufacturers are moving into the business and as a result the prices of Tablet PC's in the past few years have come down significantly at regular intervals. The iPad from Apple was the driving force behind the rapid evolution of the Tablet PC.

Today the tablet industry has evolved into an area where there is as much competition as there is in mobile and Smartphone segments. Similarly there are wars between different OS providers in this segment also and the most prolific of them is between Android and Windows.

But today we deal with a Tablet that is capable of running both the OS on the same hardware. Yes we are talking about Dual OS support in Tablets and the model offering this technology is Viewsonic Viewpad 10. The new Tablet pc form Viewsonic offers support for 2 operating systems i.e. Android 2.2 Froyo and Windows 7.

This new Tablet pc has a strong hardware that is capable of supporting both the Operating Systems. It has a powerful 1.6 GHz processor from Intel lying under the hood that takes care of all processing and computational needs of this Viewsonic Tablet pc.

Viewsonic Viewpad 10 comes in with a large 10.1 inch full touch screen and has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and also packs in a Micro SD slot.

Viewsonic Viewpad 10 has a relatively weak 1.3 Mega Pixel camera and as such does not produce quality snaps compared to the iPad and other Smartphones and tablets. It also lacks an HDMI port and comes with a simple VGA video out.

The Android 2.2 OS looks slightly awkward because only the Honeycomb version of Android is suited for large screens and the extra large display of this Viewsonic Tablet pc makes certain apps look almost a waste. The saddest part is that the manufacturer refuses to offer an upgrade to the Honeycomb version.

The Windows 7 OS on the other hand offers quite a pleasing and more comfortable environment in this Viewsonic Tablet pc. The touch screen icons and menus are more intuitively displayed in Windows as compared to Android.

However the sad part is that the Viewsonic Viewpad 10 lacks apps in both Android and Windows platforms. Windows does offer certain good quality apps but they are difficult to use with the touch screen interface. The best example is the Photoshop application.

On the whole Viewsonic Viewpad 10 offers an exciting feature of dual OS support and is packed with lots of good quality features but the pricing of the tablet is yet to be made and we hope it is aggressively priced so as to provide a stiff competition to the iPad.
