Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold vs Galaxy Z Fold7: Differences

Design and Display

Both the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 retain a design language similar to their predecessors, but with subtle refinements. The key highlight for Google's foldable is its IP68 rating, making it the first foldable in the industry to achieve full water and dust resistance. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold7 has an IP48 rating, which offers only limited protection.

Both devices feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back; however, when it comes to size and weight, Samsung takes the lead. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold weighs 258g and measures 10.8mm thick when folded and 5.2mm when unfolded, while the Galaxy Z Fold7 is more compact at just 8.99mm folded and 4.2mm unfolded and significantly lighter compared to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold at 215g.

In terms of display, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold sports a 6.4-inch OLED cover screen (1,080 × 2,364 pixels) with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and up to 3,000 nits peak brightness. Its 8.0-inch inner OLED display (2,076 × 2,152 pixels) also supports 120Hz refresh rate and the same 3,000 nits brightness, making it one of the brightest foldable screens yet.

Meanwhile, Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold7 comes with an 8-inch main display (2,184 × 1,968 pixels) and a 6.5-inch outer display (2,520 × 1,080 pixels). Both panels support 120Hz refresh rates, but their peak brightness reaches up to 2,600 nits, slightly lower than Google's offering.

Performance, Software, and Battery

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold runs Google's latest Tensor G5 chipset, paired with the Titan M2 security coprocessor for enhanced protection. The device comes with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage in India, while global variants offer additional storage configurations.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is powered by Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. It comes in multiple storage options, including 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, and a top-tier 16GB + 1TB model.

On the software side, both foldables run Android 16 out of the box and are promised seven years of OS and security updates. However, Google edges ahead with its advanced AI features. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold offers advanced features such as Magic Cue, Live Translate, the Android Earthquake Alerts System, Theft Protection, and Car Crash Detection.

For battery, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold packs a 5,015mAh unit with support for 30W wired charging and 15W Qi2 wireless charging. In comparison, Samsung opts for a slightly smaller 4,400mAh battery, supporting 25W wired and 15W wireless charging. Google takes the lead here with a larger capacity and faster charging speeds.

Camera

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold has a 48MP main sensor, a 10.5MP ultra-wide camera with a 27° field of view, and a 10.8MP telephoto lens featuring optical image stabilization (OIS) and 5x optical zoom. For selfies, Google provides 10MP cameras on both the cover and inner screens.

On the other side, Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Z Fold7 with an impressive 200MP primary sensor, accompanied by a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. On the front, it also features the same 10MP dual selfie cameras on both the cover and inner screens. While Samsung's higher-resolution primary sensor gives a raw detail, Google offers a versatile camera setup.

Price

In India, the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is available in a single 16GB/256GB storage option, priced at ₹1,72,999. On the other side, Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold7 is offered in multiple configurations:

  • 12GB + 256GB: ₹1,74,999
  • 12GB + 512GB: ₹1,86,999
  • 16GB + 1TB: ₹2,16,999

Final Thoughts

Both the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 are premium foldables with powerful features, but they cater to slightly different types of users. If durability, AI-powered features, battery life, and a brighter display are your top priorities, consider the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. It's also priced around ₹2,000 lower than Samsung's foldable.

Consider the Galaxy Z Fold7 if you prefer a more compact design, a high-resolution 200MP camera, and flexible storage options. Ultimately, the choice is up to you.
