HTC Re Successor Reportedly Coming in 2015

The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC made its debut in the camera arena with its unusually built, tube-shaped camera dubbed as HTC Re.

HTC Re is basically a point and shoot video camera that will turns on automatically, when you pick it and then you can use the thumbs to click pictures using the shutter button. Having IP57 certification, it is waterproof up to 1m deep and also capable for the outdoor shoots.

According to the Focus Taiwan, the HTC is reportedly said to be working on RE successor which might land on shelves early next year. As reported by CNA, Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia, said, that the next generation action camera will become a standalone product line aimed at the mass consumer market.

Looking at the specification, HTC Re employs 16MP camera with ½.3-inch CMOS sensor, which can capture the high resolution image up to 4632x3512. Further, it is equipped with 146 degree wide angle with an aperture of f/2.8 which eliminates the need of view finder, it also supports 4x slow motion and time-lapse video, digital image stabilization and grip sensor.

HTC Re has microSD slot for memory expansion, Wi-Fi and solely dedicated RE application from both Android and iOS which lets you to share the photos to your mobile through wireless connection. Claimed as a rival to GoPro camera, it is packed with solid 820mAh battery. The funky gadget is already available in India for around Rs 10,000.
