Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2 launched: Smaller and Quieter than before!

    Xiaomi announced quite a few gadgets in China today. Alongside the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and the Mi Pad 2 the Chinese startup has launched a second generation of their very own Air Purifier. Dubbed the Mi Air Purifier 2 the all new device despite being markedly smaller than its predecessor is equally capable.

    The Mi Air Purifier 2 comes with a three layers of filters namely Pre-Filters, HEPA Filter and Activated Carbon Filter. As stated by Xiaomi the Air Purifier is capable of removing 99.7% PM2.5 in one hour. The Mi Air Purifier 2 has an effective range of up to 39.6 sq. m thanks to the single motor and dual booster fans.

    The high flying Chinese startup further claim that the dual booster fans are inspired by the ones found in an aircraft engine. It's worth noting that the first gen Mi Purifier came with a dual motor and four booster fans.

    However omitting those fans and a motor has helped Xiaomi to keep the Mi Air Purifier 2 rather small at 520 x 240 mm (sideways) as compared to the 735 x 260mm of the previous model. Xiaomi further claim that the Mi Purifier 2 is 11% quieter than the first gen model. The all new Mi Air Purifier 2 can clean upto 388 cubic meters/hour as compared to the 330 cubic meters/hour done by the first gen product.

    The Mi Air Purifier 2 is priced at 699 Yuan (Rs 7,250 approx.) in China. On the other hand Xiaomi will also be selling standard and enhanced filters for the Mi Purifier at a price of 149 Yuan (Rs 1,545 approx.) and a 169 Yuan (Rs 1,753 approx.) respectively.

    There's no word on an Indian launch date as of now. However it's worth noting that Hugo Barra, Vice President, Xiaomi had once stated that there is high demand for Air Purifier in India. So will Xiaomi bring the Mi Purifier 2 to India? Only time will say! Nevertheless there's always a way of importing it all across to India via Chinese Resellers.
