Samsung Galaxy Gear Hands On: First Look [PICTURES]

Here's a bummer: The Galaxy Gear is compatible with select Samsung manufactured Android 4.3 Jelly Bean handsets/tablets. Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition will be compatible with Galaxy Gear in first phase. As of now, Samsung is yet to update Galaxy S4 and Note 2 to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Samsung says the update is coming soon. So, if you are looking to buy Galaxy Gear as a standalone device, the luck is not in your favor. In future the Galaxy Gear will work perfectly with Bluetooth 4.0 enabled devices. At the moment, if your pocket allows you to spend Rs. 72,890 (Galaxy Note 3 + Galaxy Gear), considering you have to have Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy Gear , go ahead no one is stopping you.

One thing we liked about Galaxy Gear is the build quality and its simplistic design. The front face is made of stainless steel, while the strap is made of neat looking plastic. The strap also features a 1.9MP camera ,microphone and speaker. Samsung Galaxy Gear will let to receive a call, one can answer it, simply by raising your hand to your ear. Galaxy Gear is not a phone; however, when connected with phone via Bluetooth- it can make calls.Basically, Galaxy Gear is an extention of your existing smartphone.

A 1.9MP shooter is fixed inside in the strap on the top side of your waist. The camera is capable of recording 720p HD videos. Only up to 10 seconds of video can be recorded. The positioning of camera is rather interesting. We are not impressed with the camera quality.
