BAFTA Game Awards 2024 Highlights: Baldur’s Gate 3 Dominates, Nintendo and New IPs Shine
The 20th edition of the British Academy Games Awards, also known as the BAFTA Game Awards, took place on April 11, 2024, at London's Southbank Centre. This annual ceremony celebrates the best creative achievements in the video game industry, and this year was no exception.
Diverse Nominees and Dominating Titles
This year's awards showcased a diverse range of nominees, with 40 titles competing across 18 categories. Baldur's Gate 3 stole the show, winning five awards out of its 10 nominations, including the coveted Best Game title. The Dungeons & Dragons-inspired RPG impressed judges with its outstanding music and narrative, while Andrew Wincott's performance as the beloved devil Raphael earned him the acting award.

Nintendo's Success and Marvel's Limited Wins
Nintendo also had a successful night with its 2023 releases. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Wonder secured wins in various categories. However, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, despite its nine nominations, only managed to win one award.
Spotlight on Other Studios
Apart from Baldur's Gate 3's dominance, other studios also shone at the BAFTAs. Remedy Entertainment won Artistic and Audio awards for Alan Wake 2. Viewfinder, a surprise success, won both the New IP and Best British Game categories. Venba (Debut Game), Tchia (Game Beyond Entertainment), and Dave the Diver (Game Design) also received well-deserved recognition.
