From blockbuster franchises like Call of Duty and Resident Evil to new projects with experimental gameplay, this year’s announcements give a strong glimpse at where the industry is heading.

Black Ops 7 Gets a Date

The spotlight at Opening Night Live fell on Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, now confirmed to launch on November 14, 2025. Set partly in 2035, the new entry builds on storylines from both Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6. For the first time in the series, the campaign will allow up to four-player co-op with global progression that carries across game modes. Multiplayer and Zombies modes are returning, and an open beta is planned ahead of launch.
Black Myth Expands with Zhong Kui
Another unexpected reveal was Black Myth: Zhong Kui, a follow-up to Black Myth: Wukong. Still in early development, the game draws inspiration from the Chinese folktale of Zhong Kui, the ghost vanquisher. The project marks a significant expansion of the Black Myth universe and confirms developer Game Science is committed to building on its breakout success.
Indiana Jones Heads to Switch 2

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is officially making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. The announcement came alongside a trailer for the Order of Giants DLC, which arrives September 4. This marks the first Xbox game designed specifically for Switch 2 hardware, raising questions about future cross-platform collaborations between Microsoft and Nintendo.
Batman Returns in LEGO Form

Warner Bros. Games confirmed LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight for 2026. The game will be available across PS5, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Based on the announcement trailer, it looks set to pull from multiple eras of Batman stories, blending LEGO humor with open-world Gotham exploration.
Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 4

Fans of the Warhammer 40,000 series finally got the announcement they’d been waiting for—Dawn of War 4 is real and launching in 2026. The RTS title returns with base building, large-scale battles, and a focus on the Blood Raven Space Marines. This entry is being developed by King Art Games rather than Relic Entertainment, a shift that has caught the community’s attention.
Sonic Racing Meets Pac-Man

Sonic Racing: Crossworlds revealed a crossover with Pac-Man, with an open network test set for August 29 – September 1 across consoles and PC.
The announcement trailer hinted at a fast-paced, colorful racing experience that brings together two iconic characters in one track.
Resident Evil: Requiem Shows More

Capcom debuted a fresh trailer for Resident Evil: Requiem, introducing players to protagonist Grace Ashcroft and her backstory. A short demo was also shown at Gamescom, highlighting a new stalker enemy that will pursue the main character throughout the game.
