Microsoft Xbox One X First Look: Experience 4K gaming in your living room

Sony PS4 Pro has just got its biggest competitor in the Indian market with the launch of Microsoft Xbox One X. Touted as the company's most powerful gaming console- Xbox One X is lighter, faster and brings 40 percent more power than any other gaming console.

The new Xbox One X is said to bring a new era of immersive 4K gaming and 4K entertainment to gamers and will retail at Rs. 44,990 in India on Microsoft India store, Amazon and Flipkart. Consumers can also purchase the Xbox One X from Croma retail stores and from over 100 gaming specialty stores in India.

We were present at the launch event in New Delhi and get a chance to experience the most advanced gaming console from Microsoft. Here's what we found.

Xbox One X Specifications

Xbox One X is built for true 4K gaming. The gaming console has enough power to drive native 4K resolutions to supported TVs. What this means is that if you have a 4K TV at your home or office, you are bound to experience the best-in-class graphics with high dynamic range and wide color gamut, something which cannot be matched by existing consoles. Sadly, the demo zone at the launch venue did not have a 4K screen and we only tested the console at 1080p screen. The gameplay looked better even on a full HD resolution and offered smoother frame rates and faster load times.

Xbox One X is backed by a 2.3Ghz 8-core AMD CPU and has 12GB GDDR5 graphical memory that pushes content at 326GB/s. The compact gaming console has 1 TB HDD internal storage and utilizes a six-teraflop AMD Radeon GPU to render graphics. It even supports HDR 10. You also get a built-in 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player and Dolby Atmos support.

Smaller, Faster and most feature rich Xbox

Bryan Sparks, the design mastermind behind the new Xbox One X has ensured that you experience the most intense gameplay from the most compact gaming console in town. The new Xbox One X is smaller than the Xbox One X and still punches 40 percent more power. Contrary to Xbox One S, the new gaming console comes in Black color which the Microsoft calls as ‘Infinite Black'. The 4k console can easily fit on or under a table and comes with a host of connectivity features to deliver an immersive and connected gaming experience.

Connectivity features

The newest member of the Xbox One family has 3 USB 3.0 ports, 2 HDMI ports (1 HDMI 2.0b out, 1 HDMI 1.4b in), IR receiver/IR Blaster port, IR Blaster, Ethernet (IEEE 802.3 10/100/1000) and also supports Kinect via external USB adapter. In all, the new Xbox One X supports all Xbox accessories across the family, which makes it the smallest and most feature-rich Xbox ever.

Diverse Games lineup

Gamers can simply rejoice. Microsoft has launched the Xbox One X with its most diverse games lineup in Xbox history. The 4k gaming console's repository of games include Forza Motorsport 7, Assassin's Creed: Origins, Cuphead and Super Lucky's Tale, out of more than 1,300 titles and more than 220 exclusives available on the Xbox One X. This speaks volume about the game titles you can play in your living room. Besides, gamers will also get features exclusive to the Xbox platform such as Xbox Live, Xbox Game Pass, a monthly membership that provides unlimited access to more than 100 games. Xbox One X Enhanced games have also been updated or built specifically to take full advantage of the new gaming console's 4K UHD and HDR capabilities.
