Sony Celebrates 15 Years of PlayStation Plus with July Game Drops and Anniversary Perks

As PlayStation Plus reaches its 15-year mark this month, Sony is rolling out a series of updates and offers to mark the occasion—ranging from free trials and tournaments to new monthly game releases for July.

The subscription service, which launched on June 29, 2010, has changed significantly over the years, shifting from an add-on content model to a tiered subscription that now includes cloud streaming, classic game access, and a growing game catalog.

Three Games Available to Claim in July

Starting July 1 through August 4, all PlayStation Plus subscribers across tiers will have access to three new monthly games:

Diablo IV (PS5, PS4)

Blizzard’s action-RPG comes to PS Plus with its full campaign, playable solo or co-op (2-player local or up to 4-player online). Set in a grim, open world, Diablo IV leans into dungeon crawling, loot grinding, and class-based combat systems.

The endgame includes large-scale world bosses, trading hubs, and character customization through loot and ability trees. The PS Plus version includes cross-play and cross-progression support across platforms.

The King of Fighters XV (PS5, PS4)

The long-running SNK fighting series returns in this installment with a 3-on-3 battle system and a total of 39 characters from across its history. It includes new and returning fighters, online rollback netcode for better match stability, and various modes for solo and online play.

PS Plus members will also receive the “Classic Leona” costume as a bonus, bringing back her 1996 look.

Jusant (PS5)

A different kind of game, Jusant is a quiet, climbing-focused puzzle platformer. Players ascend a massive, abandoned tower using rope mechanics and climbing gear while solving traversal-based puzzles.

There are no combat elements—just stamina management, exploration, and piecing together fragments of a forgotten world.

Anniversary Events: Trials, Discounts, and a Weekend Tournament

Sony is using the occasion to offer free game trials for PS Plus Premium users. Trials now available include WWE 2K25 and Monster Hunter Wilds (starting June 30).

Between June 27 and 29, the PlayStation Store will feature exclusive discounts on games like Sniper Elite: Resistance, Civilization VII, and Star Wars Outlaws, available only to PlayStation Plus members.

There’s also a special anniversary cup tournament beginning June 28, covering a mix of titles including EA Sports FC, NBA 2K, UFC, College Football, and Tekken 8. Winners can earn in-game currency, exclusive avatars, or Sony Pictures Core credits.

Additional Freebies and Access

PS Plus members can redeem a free Valorant cosmetics pack, which includes gun charms, sprays, and Radianite Points. From June 28 to 29, online multiplayer access will be open to all PlayStation players—even those without a PS Plus subscription.

Finally, PlayStation Plus Premium members get a 15% discount on up to 2,000 movies through the Sony Pictures Core library until August 12.
