Xbox Games Showcase 2025: From Xbox Ally Handhelds to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Here’s Everything Announced
The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 wasn't just about what's launching next-it was about where and how we'll be playing. Microsoft's latest showcase delivered a stacked lineup of new games, sequels, remakes, and surprises across genres, platforms, and studios. But the underlying thread was unmistakable: whether you're gaming on a console, PC, the cloud-or now, a handheld-Xbox wants to be wherever you are.
From Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 to the return of Persona 4, and a handful of promising new IPs, here's everything that stood out.

Xbox Ally Handhelds Get a Brief Reveal
The only hardware announcement at the event came in the form of the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X, Xbox-branded handheld gaming PCs built with ASUS. While the specs are impressive, Microsoft emphasized the software layer: a new Xbox-first UI, streamlined Game Bar, and AI-powered Gaming Copilot that redefines portable PC gaming.

Black Ops 7: A Return to Psychological Warfare
Treyarch and Raven Software opened the show with a teaser for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Set in the year 2035, the narrative continues after the events of Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 2, bringing back fan-favorite protagonist David Mason. The game is said to focus on psychological warfare, featuring a co-op campaign, updated multiplayer, and classic zombie mode.
The full reveal is expected this summer, but the game will be available day one across Xbox, PC, and Game Pass.
Grounded 2 Steps Into New Terrain
Obsidian Entertainment announced Grounded 2, expanding the backyard survival game into Brookhollow Park, a much larger and more dangerous setting.
The original teenage crew returns-now a little older-with new tools, rideable insects, and upgraded crafting systems. The sequel arrives on Game Preview and Steam Early Access July 29, and will be playable on Game Pass day one.
The Outer Worlds 2 Deepens Its Sci-Fi Satire
Also from Obsidian, The Outer Worlds 2 got a major spotlight, showcasing a new region called Arcadia-a colony caught in a tug-of-war between rival factions and rift anomalies.
Expect expanded RPG mechanics, satirical storytelling, and fully customizable characters. The sequel launches October 29, 2025 with full support for Xbox Play Anywhere.
Gears of War: Reloaded Brings Back the Classic
The Gears franchise returns with Gears of War: Reloaded, featuring upgraded 4K visuals, modern frame rates, cross-play multiplayer, and a two-weekend beta starting June 13.
The game drops August 26, 2025, and marks the series' most accessible version yet, launching across Xbox, PC, and even PS5.
Persona 4 Revival Finally Official
After years of speculation, Atlus confirmed Persona 4 Revival, a remake of the beloved JRPG set in rural Japan. Updated visuals, modern mechanics, and quality-of-life improvements bring the Midnight Channel saga to a new generation.
The remake is coming to Xbox, PC, and PS5, and will be available day one on Game Pass.
Game Freak's Beast of Reincarnation Is a Bold New IP
In a surprising move, Game Freak stepped outside Pokémon to reveal Beast of Reincarnation, a gritty action-RPG set in post-apocalyptic Japan. Players control Emma, an outcast traveling with her dog Koo through a beast-infested world. With gameplay that leans toward Soulslike combat, this title arrives in 2026 on Xbox, PC, and PS5, with Game Pass support at launch.
Keeper and Aphelion Lead the New IP Charge
Double Fine revealed Keeper, a third-person adventure where players embody a sentient lighthouse journeying across a psychedelic island. The game uses light as a gameplay mechanic and is scheduled to launch October 17.
Don't Nod showcased Aphelion, a cinematic sci-fi title where a stranded astronaut navigates a frozen world to save her injured partner. Co-developed with the European Space Agency, Aphelion launches in 2026.
A Plague Tale Returns With Resonance
Asobo Studio announced Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, a prequel set 15 years before Requiem. The new protagonist, Sophia, explores a myth-laden island tied to the origins of the Macula curse. The game blends swordplay and environmental puzzles, and it's set to arrive in 2026.

Looking to 2026 and Beyond
Phil Spencer closed the showcase by teasing more for 2026, including a new Fable, Forza, Gears of War: E-Day, and "the return of a classic that's been with us since the beginning." While exact names weren't revealed, the message was clear: Xbox is gearing up for a major milestone as it turns 25.
