Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake to Kingdom Hearts 4: Biggest Announcements from Nintendo’s June Direct Showcase

Nintendo used the June 2026 Nintendo Direct to outline a crowded release slate for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The broadcast confirmed a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, a new Nintendo Switch 2 version of Minecraft, Kingdom Hearts 4, and many other first-party and third-party projects.

The schedule shown in the presentation centred on launches for the second half of 2026 and into 2027. Viewers saw new action RPGs, role-playing games, sports titles, multiplayer experiences, and expansions. Several projects received specific dates, while others were given seasonal windows or broader 2027 targets across Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Biggest Announcements from Nintendo’s June Direct Showcase

Zelda and Minecraft Projects

The presentation closed with confirmation that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is being remade for Nintendo Switch 2. Footage showed Link asleep in Link’s house before cutting away. Nintendo said the project is scheduled for 2026 and described it as: "Classic Nintendo 64 title is back for a new generation in 2026, remade exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2!."

A dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Minecraft was also announced. The new version will introduce upgraded visuals, improved lighting, and refreshed shadow effects. Mojang confirmed that existing Minecraft worlds will move across to Nintendo Switch 2. A specific launch date has not been provided, but the company indicated release is planned for later in 2026.

Expand Kingdom Hearts Support

Square Enix finally lifted the lid on Kingdom Hearts 4 during the Nintendo Direct. The new entry is confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Steam, and Epic Games Store. The announcement did not include a release window, leaving the timing of Kingdom Hearts 4 unconfirmed.

Square Enix also detailed plans to bring earlier adventures to Nintendo hardware. The Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III] will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on 8 October. As part of the announcement, Square Enix said a playable demo for Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind becomes available straight away for players on Nintendo Switch 2.

First-party Games Schedule

Nintendo highlighted several first-party projects and updates for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Splatoon Raiders received a new gameplay trailer ahead of release on 23 July. Nintendo confirmed a separate Splatoon Raiders Direct for 30 June, promising more detail on multiplayer features and modes ahead of launch on Nintendo Switch 2.

A new Xenoblade title, Xenoblade Genesis, was announced for Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo listed a 2027 release window for the role-playing game. Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave also featured in the line-up with a confirmed date of 17 September, extending Nintendo’s tactical RPG catalogue on current hardware.

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort was introduced as a return to Wuhu Island. The collection includes boxing, tennis, volleyball, basketball, golf, and archery. A thumb wrestling mode joins the line-up as a new activity. Nintendo stated that Nintendo Switch Sports Resort will launch on 22 October, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.

RPG and Action Games

The Direct devoted space to role-playing games and action titles from Square Enix and other publishers, spanning Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and additional platforms. Final Fantasy Resonance is an HD-2D turn-based RPG arriving on 22 October for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World will reach both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on 3 December. Other third-party projects were dated during the show, including Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Lies of P: Complete Edition, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Devil May Cry 5: Devil Hunter Edition, Lords of the Fallen 2, and Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen.

Smaller Projects and Updates

Nintendo gave time to a range of smaller projects and live game updates across Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. One Piece: Grand Gourmet is a restaurant management simulation based on the anime series. It launches on 23 October for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, iOS, and Android devices.

Big Walk, a cooperative multiplayer adventure from the studio behind Untitled Goose Game, will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on 4 August. Pokémon Pokopia will receive a free content update in August that introduces a Dive ability. The first part of the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, titled Bubbly Basin, is also scheduled for that month.

The Direct also highlighted several other releases heading to Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Rayman Legends Retold is due on 1 October, while Orbitals is planned for 3 September. DELTARUNE Chapter 5 is listed for 24 June. JUJUTSU KAISEN RUMBLE: SURVIVATON is expected in 2026, along with Stellar Blade for Nintendo Switch 2 and a Donkey Kong Bananza downloadable content collaboration event.

Taken together, the June 2026 Nintendo Direct outlined a busy period for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 owners. Remakes, new entries in long-running series, and smaller experimental titles all received attention. With projects stretching from June 2026 into 2027, the presentation set clear expectations for Nintendo’s near-term software pipeline.
