Asus ROG Ally handheld gaming console launch date confirmed for May 11
Asus showcased its first handheld console earlier this year to compete with Valve's Steam Deck. Now, after a long hiatus, the ROG Ally, Asus' handheld gaming PC, has got an official global launch date.
Asus recently took to Twitter to confirm that the ROG Ally launch date is set for May 11, 2023, at 10:00 am ET or 07:30 pm in India. However, the Asus ROG Ally India launch doesn't seem to be in cards.
Asus ROG Ally powered by AMD
Asus has already set up a micro-site for the ROG Ally launch with a clock counting down the days to the handheld console's release. While the website doesn't provide any details in terms of specifications, the ROG Ally will likely be powered by the new Ryzen Z1 or Ryzen Z1 Extreme chips.
These chips were recently announced by AMD for the next generation of handheld gaming consoles. The new Ryzen Z1 chip are based on AMD's latest Zen 4 architecture. While the Asus ROG Ally specifications are yet to be announced, they have been leaked in detail.
Asus ROG Ally Specifications
The new Ryzen chip on the ROG Ally will be accompanied by 16GB of DDR5 RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. The console will feature a microSD card slot for storage expansion. It will also support 65W fast charging through the USB Type-C port. The ROG Ally will run Windows 11.

It will be compatible with Xbox Game Pass, Epic Games, Steam, and EA apps. The ROG Ally sports a 7-inch Full HP (1080p) display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The screen also boasts a brightness of 500 nits and supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
The Asus ROG Ally price is rumoured to be around $700 (roughly Rs 57,300) in North America. Asus is also expected to release a host of accessories with its first handheld PC, including the Asus ROG Raikiri Pro Controller, Asus ROG Cetra Earbuds (TWS), and a Travel Case for the ROG Ally.
