Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Could Take Place Later Today: Report
Industry insiders suggest that the successor to the Nintendo Switch will be unveiled soon. Speculation about the Nintendo Switch 2 has grown, with multiple sources hinting at an imminent announcement. Reports indicate that Nintendo might reveal the Switch 2 later today. This information comes from Nate the Hate, a well-known source for industry predictions.
Nate the Hate shared insights on his podcast, stating he was informed about a January 16 reveal for the Nintendo Switch 2. He mentioned that the event would primarily focus on showcasing the console itself, without any game presentations. "What I've heard is that the reveal itself is going to focus almost exclusively on the console itself," he stated.

Nintendo Switch 2 Leaks and Rumours
Other publications have supported Nate's claims. Tom Warren from The Verge mentioned on X that the Switch 2 would be revealed this week. Eurogamer also reported similar information from industry sources pointing to a January 16 announcement for Nintendo's new console.
Recent leaks have provided insights into what to expect from the Switch 2. These leaks have highlighted potential design features and specifications of the upcoming console, suggesting that Nintendo is nearing its official unveiling.
At CES last week, Genki, a third-party peripheral manufacturer, showcased a mock-up of the Nintendo Switch 2. However, Nintendo has remained silent amidst these leaks and has even attempted to suppress them. In a statement to CNET last week, they clarified that Genki's mock-up was "unofficial" and not supplied by Nintendo.
Design and Compatibility of Nintendo's New Console
Nintendo has confirmed two key details about their next console: it will be announced before March 2025 and will support backward compatibility with existing Nintendo Switch games. Despite this confirmation, further details remain speculative.
Leaks over recent months have hinted at design and hardware improvements for the Switch 2. These include magnetic Joy-Cons with hall-effect joysticks, an enhanced dock, and a larger display. A report last month suggested a launch date of March 28 for the new console.
The anticipation surrounding Nintendo's next console continues to build as fans eagerly await official announcements. With various leaks and rumours circulating, expectations are high for what could be another successful product in Nintendo's lineup.
