PS5 Pro Launch in India Imminent: Sony’s Powerhouse Gaming Console Spotted on BIS Certification Site

The path is finally clear for a PS5 Pro India launch, after a key change in wireless rules. India has eased controls on the 6 GHz spectrum, which is necessary for Wi-Fi 7, removing the main technical barrier for Sony.

Fresh regulatory paperwork now gives the strongest hint yet of arrival. The PlayStation 5 Pro model number CFI-7121 has appeared in Bureau of Indian Standards records, a mandatory step before any game console can be imported, manufactured, stored, or sold in India.

Earlier, Sony could not launch the PS5 Pro India units because of strict controls on 6 GHz wireless bands. The console’s Wi-Fi 7 system needs that band, so India’s earlier rules blocked official release, even as other regions received the hardware.

India changed course in January 2026 by lifting many limits on the 6 GHz range. The crucial lower band from 5925–6425 MHz, used by Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7, is now open. This regulatory shift removes the main technical hurdle for a PS5 Pro India launch.

The standard PS5 provides a useful comparison. It appeared in BIS records first and reached Indian shelves about 77 days later. If Sony follows a similar timeline, PS5 Pro India buyers might not wait very long after the March 2026 certification.

The PS5 Pro offers stronger ray tracing performance than the regular PS5, which may appeal to players planning upgrades. Reports also suggest Sony can keep supplying PS5 consoles globally until the end of 2026, even with current memory shortages affecting parts of the industry.
