Sony PS5 Pro Specifications Leaked: Improved CPU, GPU Performance, and System Memory Expected
Sony is reportedly gearing up to introduce a 'Pro' version of its PlayStation 5 console later this year, sparking excitement among gaming enthusiasts.
According to recent analyses, this new iteration, dubbed the PS5 Pro, is expected to hit the shelves before the highly anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) in 2025. Now, fresh details have emerged about the specifications of this upcoming console, highlighting significant enhancements over its predecessor.

Sony PlayStation 5 Pro: What to Expect?
Insider Gaming's latest report sheds light on the PS5 Pro's advanced features, including a substantial upgrade in system memory from 448 GB/s to 576 GB/s, marking a 28 percent increase. The console will maintain the eight-core AMD Zen 2 CPU found in the original PS5 but will introduce a 'High CPU Frequency Mode.'
This mode boosts the clock speed to up to 3.85GHz, up 10 percent from the PS5's 3.5Ghz. Despite a slight reduction in GPU performance by approximately 1 percent, the focus is on enhancing the CPU's power.
Moreover, the PS5 Pro is rumored to feature audio improvements, with the ACV running at a higher clock speed, thus boosting the ACM library's performance by 35 percent. Another notable addition is a detachable disc drive, aligning with the slimmer version of the standard PS5, and an increased storage capacity of 1TB.
PS5 Pro to Feature Faster GPU
Leaked documents have also hinted at significant GPU enhancements for the PS5 Pro, promising 45 percent faster rendering than its predecessor and improved ray-tracing capabilities.
The console's computational power is expected to leap to 33.5 teraflops, a significant rise from the PS5's 10.28 teraflops, and even surpassing the Xbox Series X's 12 teraflops. While Sony has yet to confirm the development of the PS5 Pro, the company's history with the PS4 Pro launch suggests that a new model could indeed be on the horizon.
Last year, Sony introduced a slimmer and lighter PS5 variant with a detachable disc drive, maintaining the original's power and price point. Following a Sony earnings call that highlighted a shortfall in PS5 sales targets for fiscal year 2023, industry analysts speculate that the PS5 Pro's release in the latter half of 2024 could invigorate console sales.
