Uncertain Future for E3 as Reports Suggest Cancellation for 2024 and 2025
E3, the renowned annual event in the gaming industry, has long been a highly anticipated gathering for gamers, developers, and industry professionals worldwide. With its showcase of the latest games, hardware, and industry announcements, E3 held in Los Angeles offers immersive experiences and exciting reveals. However, recent reports indicate an uncertain future for this beloved event, with rumors of its cancellation for 2024 and 2025.
ESA Is Yet to Make a Final Decision
As the primary organization responsible for organizing E3, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has yet to make a final decision regarding the future of the expo. While the Los Angeles City Tourism Board of Commissioners has expressed its stance on the matter, the ESA's plans for E3 2024 and beyond remain uncertain.

Insights from the LA City Tourism Board of Commissioners
A report released by the Los Angeles City Tourism Board of Commissioners sheds light on the tourism landscape of Los Angeles, the traditional host city of E3.
The expo has historically taken place at the Los Angeles Convention Centre for approximately one week in June. This report, therefore, offers valuable insights into the impact of E3 on the local tourism industry.
A Challenging Year for E3
Earlier this year, the ESA announced a partnership with ReedPop, an entertainment company known for organizing major fan conventions like New York Comic-Con and Penny Arcade Expo, to manage E3 2023. Unfortunately, E3 2023 was ultimately canceled due to publishers not having their game demos or reels ready in time. Kyle Marsden-Kish, ReedPop's global vice president of gaming, clarified the reason for the cancellation.
Uncertainty Surrounding the Future
The future of E3 remains uncertain, raising questions about the expo's continuity and potential relocation to a different city. The last full-scale E3 event took place in 2019, with subsequent cancellations in 2020, 2022, and 2023 due to unforeseen circumstances. In 2021, the event returned as a digital showcase, receiving mixed reviews. Despite plans to revive the expo, it appears that its return will be significantly delayed, if it happens at all.
