Airtel’s ₹699 IPTV Plan Explained: What You’ll Actually Get, What You’ll Pay, and More

Airtel is expanding its IPTV footprint across India, quietly shifting the home entertainment conversation away from traditional DTH and cable. The company's new IPTV plans let users stream over 350 live TV channels and access 26 OTT platforms-without a satellite dish or coaxial cable. All you need is a broadband connection and a set-top box.

While the ₹699 plan sounds straightforward on paper, a closer look reveals layers of cost, setup, and service that are worth unpacking-especially if you're already part of the Airtel ecosystem or planning to switch.

Airtel’s ₹699 IPTV Plan: What You Really Get and What You’ll Pay

What Does Airtel's IPTV Plan Actually Include?

At its base, the ₹699 per month plan includes:

  • 40 Mbps fiber broadband
  • Live TV access to 350+ channels
  • Free access to 26 OTT apps, including Disney+ Hotstar, via Airtel Xstream
  • Landline support with voice calling (if a compatible device is used)
  • Use of a Wi-Fi router and IPTV set-top box

It's effectively a triple-play service: broadband + TV + OTT, delivered over a single fiber connection.

The Fine Print: What You'll Need to Pay Upfront

The monthly cost is just one part of the equation. If you're a new user, here's what you'll likely need to pay:

  • A one-time installation fee
  • The cost of the Wi-Fi router
  • The cost of the IPTV set-top box

These upfront costs are required to get the hardware in place, and they aren't included in the ₹699 subscription. However, Airtel is offering some discounts on the hardware if users opt for 6-month or 12-month plans. These bundled plans may also include extended service benefits.

If you're already on an Airtel fiber plan (especially part of an Airtel Black bundle), adding IPTV may be a lot easier-and cheaper. In many cases, existing users can upgrade through the Airtel Thanks app or by visiting a store, without needing a new installation.

OTT Apps and Live Channels: What You're Really Getting

The plan promises access to over 26 OTT platforms via the Airtel Xstream app. While Airtel hasn't published the full list in every region, users can expect major players like:

  • Disney+ Hotstar
  • SonyLIV
  • Lionsgate Play
  • Eros Now
  • Hoichoi
  • Aha
  • And many more through the Airtel Xstream Plan

The live TV lineup includes a mix of news, entertainment, sports, and regional channels. The IPTV set-top box acts as the central hub-allowing you to stream both live content and on-demand apps directly to your TV.

Availability and Where It Stands Now

Airtel says the service is available in 2,000 cities across India, with more being added over time. It is currently not available in some parts of Delhi, Rajasthan, Assam, and the Northeastern states, but those are expected to go live soon.

New customers can sign up by purchasing a Wi-Fi plan through the Airtel website or by visiting an Airtel store. Existing customers can switch or upgrade via the Airtel Thanks app, and in many cases, they'll get 30 days of free IPTV access as part of a trial period.

Is It Worth Switching From DTH?

If you already pay separately for broadband, DTH, and OTT apps, Airtel's IPTV plan may offer a more streamlined-and potentially cheaper-experience. You lose the satellite dish but gain flexibility, especially with on-demand OTT access and integrated live TV. However, upfront costs for hardware may still be a consideration for first-time subscribers.
