From K-Pop To True Crime: What Alexa Users In India Actually Asked In 2025
Amazon has shared a summary of the most common requests made by Alexa users in India during 2025. The data, which covers interactions from January to November, offers a look at how people are using voice assistants for music, podcasts, celebrity trivia, and general information.

The requests span English, Hindi, and Hinglish, reflecting how voice assistants are typically used in Indian households.
Music Remains The Primary Use Case
Music-related requests continued to account for a large share of Alexa usage in India this year. Users asked about a mix of international and Indian artists, including BTS, Blackpink, Jennie, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, and Michael Jackson, alongside Indian musicians such as Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Arijit Singh, Shankar Mahadevan, and Shreya Ghoshal.

Listening requests also covered a wide range of tracks. Viral songs like APT by ROSÉ and Bruno Mars and Shaky by Sanju Rathod and G-SPXRK appeared frequently, as did Bollywood tracks and older film music. The data suggests that users don’t stick to a single genre or era when using Alexa for music playback.
Podcasts Saw Steady Interest
Podcasts were another commonly requested category. Alexa users accessed shows across genres including true crime, spirituality, business, education, and fiction.
Popular requests included titles such as The Horror Show by Khooni Monday, The Desi Crime Podcast, Finshots Daily, The Ranveer Show, Raj Shamani’s Figuring Out, The Stories of Mahabharata, and The Sadhguru Podcast – Of Mystics and Mistakes. The variety points to Alexa being used for both short updates and longer listening sessions.
Celebrity-Related Questions Were Common
Many Alexa queries focused on public figures, particularly actors, athletes, and business leaders. Users frequently asked questions related to net worth, spouses, and physical attributes such as height.
Sports figures like Virat Kohli, Cristiano Ronaldo, MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, and Lionel Messi featured prominently, as did film personalities including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, and Akshay Kumar. Business leaders such as Elon Musk, Mukesh Ambani, Jeff Bezos, Gautam Adani, and Bill Gates were among the most searched when it came to wealth-related questions.
A noticeable share of these queries were phrased in Hindi or Hinglish, rather than formal English.
General Knowledge Queries Continue
Beyond entertainment, Alexa was also used for basic general knowledge. Users asked questions about political leaders, geography, and population figures.
Common prompts included questions about the Prime Minister of India, the Chief Minister of Delhi, and the President of the United States. These requests indicate continued use of voice assistants as a quick information source for straightforward questions.
