Google Chrome can now Directly Answer Queries using Gemini AI: Here’s How!
Google has recently stepped up its game by incorporating the Gemini AI chatbot into Chrome for desktop users. This new update allows users to interact directly with Gemini AI by merely typing in their questions in the address bar.
This feature is part of the stable release version of Google Chrome and is accessible to a broad audience globally.

Gemini AI Integration in Google Chrome
- The process of engaging with Gemini is straightforward, users need to type "@gemini" followed by their question in Chrome's address bar.
- Chrome then channels the question to Gemini AI.
- For this to work, users must be logged into Gemini with their Google account.
- Depending on the type of Gemini subscription, Chrome will use either the basic or advanced model of Gemini to respond to queries.
The integration marks a significant step in making AI chatbots more readily accessible to users. Google Chrome, starting from version 124.0.6367.119, supports this feature across various operating systems including Windows, macOS, and Linux.
More importantly, this integration is exclusive to Google Chrome, with other Chromium-based browsers not offering this direct access to Gemini. Google's move to integrate Gemini AI into Chrome does not disrupt the normal search functionality. The default search engine will still handle regular searches unless the @gemini prompt is used.
Expanding Gemini AI Access
Beyond Chrome, Google has extended Gemini AI to other services such as Gmail and Google Docs, enabling users to perform tasks like composing emails or rephrasing sentences more efficiently. However, these integrations are currently limited to desktop versions, with mobile versions yet to see this update.
This initiative by Google follows Microsoft's integration of its CoPilot chatbot into the Edge browser. CoPilot, which utilizes GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 models from OpenAI, assists users in various tasks, including searches and schedule management.
Google's integration of Gemini into Chrome reflects the growing trend of making AI tools more accessible and user-friendly within the tech industry. The ability to directly interact with an AI chatbot through the Chrome browser's address bar simplifies user interaction with AI.
