Thanks to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), you can now request a reprint of your Aadhaar card or download an e-Aadhaar from the comfort of your home. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to get a duplicate Aadhaar card online.

How to Apply for a Duplicate Aadhaar Card Online

If your Aadhaar card is lost, stolen, or damaged, you can easily order a reprint through UIDAI's online portal.

1. Visit the UIDAI Website

Go to the official UIDAI website at uidai.gov.in.

2. Click on 'My Aadhaar'

On the homepage, find and click the 'My Aadhaar' tab. This section provides various Aadhaar-related services.

3. Select 'Order Aadhaar Reprint'

Under the 'My Aadhaar' menu, choose the 'Order Aadhaar Reprint' option.

4. Enter Your Aadhaar Number or Virtual ID

  • Input your 12-digit Aadhaar number or 16-digit Virtual ID (VID).
  • Enter the security code (captcha) displayed on the screen.

5. Request an OTP for Verification

  • Click on the 'Send OTP' button.
  • You will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on your registered mobile number.
  • Enter the OTP to proceed.

6. Confirm Details and Make Payment

  • After verification, a page will appear showing your Aadhaar details.
  • Review the information and proceed with the payment.
  • The reprint fee may vary but is usually ₹50 (including GST and delivery charges).

7. Track the Status of Your Aadhaar Reprint Request

  • Once payment is successful, you will receive a Service Request Number (SRN).
  • You can track your request by selecting 'Check Aadhaar Reprint Status' under the 'My Aadhaar' tab.
  • Enter your SRN and Aadhaar number to check the progress.

8. Download an e-Aadhaar (Temporary Digital Copy)

While waiting for your physical Aadhaar card to be delivered, you can download an e-Aadhaar from UIDAI's website. This digitally signed PDF is legally valid and can be used for verification purposes.

9. Receive Aadhaar by Post

  • Your duplicate Aadhaar card will be printed and sent via Speed Post to your registered address within a few days.
  • Delivery times may vary based on your location.
