You Can Now Create AI Videos for Free with Microsoft Bing’s New Tool—Here’s How
Creating AI-generated videos just got a lot easier, and it won't cost you a thing. Microsoft has launched Bing Video Creator, a new tool that lets anyone turn text prompts into short AI-generated videos, completely free of charge.
The feature is now available on the Bing Mobile app, starting today, with a desktop rollout planned soon. Powered by OpenAI's Sora model, this new tool is designed to bring your ideas to life visually, even if you've never touched a video editor in your life.

How to Use Bing Video Creator
Using Bing Video Creator is refreshingly simple. Here's a step-by-step breakdown:
Step 1: Open the Bing Mobile App
Make sure you've downloaded the Bing Mobile app (available for both Android and iOS). Once you're in the app, tap the menu in the bottom right corner and select "Video Creator."
Alternatively, you can just type a prompt directly into the search bar-for example, "Create a video of a dog flying a spaceship."
Step 2: Type Your Prompt
You'll be asked to describe the video you want. The more detailed, the better. Instead of saying "a bird flying," try something like: "A blue parrot soaring over a tropical beach at sunset, filmed in cinematic style with a drone camera."
Add action, mood, or specific styles if you want more control over the result.

Step 3: Hit Create
Click "Create", and let the AI do the work. You'll get a notification when the video is ready. Once it's generated, you can:
- Download it
- Share it via social media or email
- Copy a direct link
The videos stay saved for up to 90 days, so you can revisit them, refine your prompts, or download later.
Step 4: Keep Creating
Everyone starts with 10 free "Fast" generations. After that, you can either continue creating at Standard speed (which remains free) or redeem 100 Microsoft Rewards points for each additional Fast generation.
What Else You Should Know
Here are some key things to keep in mind while using Bing Video Creator:
- Prompt Quality Matters: More descriptive prompts yield better results. Include objects, actions, atmosphere, and styles.
- You Can Experiment with Tone: Want a cartoon style? Just say so. Prefer a realistic look? Add "cinematic," "film grain," or "shot at dusk."

- Video Duration: Currently limited to 5 seconds, which makes it ideal for social posts, quick concepts, or visual brainstorming.
- Safety and Transparency: Microsoft uses OpenAI's safeguards and additional filters to block unsafe prompts. All videos are tagged using C2PA standards to indicate they're AI-generated.
Lastly, the videos are generated in a 9:16 vertical format, with a horizontal format (16:9) coming soon. You can queue up to three creations at a time and select between Standard and Fast generation speeds.
