How to Enable DND on Jio to Stop Unwanted Messages and Calls in 2024

Getting unwanted calls and messages can be annoying especially if you are in a meeting or important work. While you can avoid spam calls by turning off the phone, it is not a great solution, as you also won't be able to receive regular calls and messages.

To help you with this, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has a special service called DND that can permanently block spam calls. By enabling it, you can easily block the spam calls. If you are a Jio user, you can turn on the DND (Do Not Disturb) service from the MyJio app to achieve peace of mind, and to ensure you will only get important calls.

Before diving into the details, you must know about DND. TRAI has characterised DND into two different options -- Partial DND and full DND. And for those, who like some promotional calls and messages, partial DND will let some of the promotional calls and texts, while full DND will block almost everything.

However, spammers have gotten smart over the years, and despite enabling full DND some promotional calls and messages might still make it through, as they are undetected by the system. In such cases, one can take the help of caller identification apps like Truecaller, which does a much better job of filtering unwanted spam calls from product delivery-related calls, especially when you get a call from an unknown number.

How to Enable DND on Jio

Step 1: Download the MyJio app from the Play Store or Apple's App Store. Then sign in using your Jio number.

Step 2: Go to the Settings -> Service settings -> Do not disturb.

Step 3: You can see a total of four categories namely - promotional communications blocked, custom preferences, and De-registration from DND. Now, select and save the category you want to block from receiving calls and messages.

Similarly, you can activate DND on your other SIM cards as well. Using the DND service can significantly reduce the number of unwanted calls and messages, ensuring a more productive and less interrupted day. Do note that enabling DND also means, you might miss some important announcements at times, so, be vary of that.
