How to Unlock Bootloader in Asus Zenfone 2, Unofficial Method

One of the interesting things in Android platform is its customization feature. You can work around with custom ROMs and kernels. Asus Zenfone 2 users can now unlock the bootloader on the smartphone. A senior member of XDA developer has posted a tutorial for unlocking the bootloader on the Zenfone 2.

Unlocking the bootloader will allow you to root the smartphone and install custom ROM. But unlocking and install custom ROM requires some caution and understanding before attempting. Interested users can go ahead and unlock the bootloader using this tutorial. Please note: unlocking the bootloader will void the warrant of the smartphone.

Points To Remember

Complete Steps to Unlock Bootloader

Step 1: Connect and mount the Asus Zenfone 2 to the PC using the USB cable.

Step 2: Navigate to ADB folder and launch the ADB command on computer and enter the following commands and press Enter after every command.

adb shell (press Enter)
su (press Enter)
getprop ro.isn > /factory/asuskey ( press Enter)
reboot bootloader ( press Enter)

Step 3: Now the phone will reboot into recovery mode and will update automatically and restart once again.

Now the smartphone's splash screen will be white, which indicates the factory lock has been removed.

Step 4: Again type the following commands in the adb cmd on your computer.

adb reboot bootloader (press Enter)
fastboot devices (press Enter)

Step 5: If the device is listed in the command, then enter the following command and press Enter.

fastboot flash splashscreen splashscreen.img

Step 6: Now restart your smartphone. You will see the black splash screen is back, which means the bootloader is now unlocked.
