Jio eSIM Activation: How to Switch from a Physical SIM to eSIM
eSIMs are becoming a popular alternative to traditional SIM cards. Unlike a physical SIM card that you insert into your phone, an eSIM is embedded within the device and can be activated digitally-usually by scanning a QR code or using your carrier's app. If you are a Jio user and want to switch to an eSIM, you can get it done while sitting at home. Here's how to do it.
How to Switch from a Physical Jio SIM to an eSIM
If you're looking to switch from a physical Jio SIM to an eSIM, the process is straightforward and does not require a visit to the store. You can do it using the MyJio app. However, make sure the Jio number you want to convert to eSIM is active. Here's how to do it:

Step 1: Log in to the MyJio app using your Jio number.
Step 2: Search for eSIM in the app, then select the option to switch to eSIM.
Step 3: Enter your email ID and verify it using the OTP sent to your email.
Step 4: The eSIM profile QR code will be sent to your email ID for activation.
Step 5: Enter the EID number of your device. If you want to activate the eSIM on the same phone where your Jio SIM is currently being used, simply copy the EID number from the settings. Otherwise, get the EID from the new device where you want to use the eSIM.
Step 6: Tap Proceed. An OTP will be sent to your Jio number. Enter the OTP and confirm to submit your eSIM request.
Step 7: Wait for two hours. After this period, you will receive an IVR call from 022-35072222. Answer the call, follow the instructions carefully, and enter the prompted numbers for activation.
If you want to cancel the eSIM activation for any reason, press 1 during the call.
Step 8: After this, you will receive a confirmation message and email. Once confirmed, you need to install the eSIM on your eSIM-supported device.
How to Install eSIM?
For Samsung and Apple phones, simply tap on the eSIM profile notification and follow the on-screen instructions to install the eSIM.
You can also scan the QR code sent to your email using any eSIM-supported device.
Moreover, if you're looking to switch from an eSIM back to a physical SIM card, it does require a visit to your mobile network provider's store. Click here to know the process!
