Samsung has opened pre-reservations for its next Galaxy foldables ahead of Unpacked on July 22. For a refundable Rs 999, you can lock in a spot and walk away with benefits worth up to Rs 2,799 once the actual device launches.

Here's exactly how it works, whether you go through Samsung directly or through Amazon.

How Long the Pre-Reserve Window Stays Open

The pre-reserve period runs from July 8 to July 22, 2026, or until pre-booking for the actual device starts, whichever happens first. So if pre-orders open early, this window could close sooner than the 22nd.

Pre-Reserving Through Samsung.com or the Samsung Shop App

1. Head to Samsung's pre-reserve page and click the Pre-reserve button. This adds a "#Next Galaxy VIP Pass" to your cart.
2. Pay Rs 999 using any prepaid payment method, credit card, debit card, wallet, net banking, or UPI. Cash on delivery isn't available for this.
3. You'll get your VIP Pass confirmation via email and SMS on the mobile number or email ID you used to pre-reserve.
4. A quick note: referral codes, welcome vouchers, and loyalty points can't be used to pay for the pre-reserve itself.

Pre-Reserving Through Amazon

Amazon runs a similar process, but through its own gift card system instead of Samsung's VIP Pass:

1. Click Pre-reserve on Amazon's Galaxy Unpacked microsite, which takes you to an Amazon Pay gift card page.
2. Buy an Amazon Pay gift card worth Rs 999.
3. You'll receive the gift card on your registered email ID within 24 hours. Make sure it's the same email tied to your Amazon account, or you won't get it.
4. That's it, you've pre-reserved through Amazon. You'll then need to visit Amazon once pre-orders go live to actually purchase the device.

What You Actually Get for the Rs 999

Both routes offer the same core benefit: an e-store voucher worth up to Rs 2,799. On Samsung's own platform, this voucher is applied when you add the actual Galaxy device to your cart at checkout, and it only works on samsung.com or the Samsung Shop App. The Rs 999 you paid upfront also gets adjusted against the final purchase price of the device.

A couple of things to know about how the voucher works: if you end up buying an add-on product worth less than your voucher value, you lose the difference rather than getting it back. And if you've added multiple eligible add-on products to a single cart, the voucher amount gets split across them proportionally.

Beyond the voucher, Samsung is also dangling a few buy-direct perks for anyone purchasing through their own platform: special launch colours exclusive to samsung.com and the Shop App, Samsung Rewards points, higher trade-in value on your old device, and Samsung Care+ protection plans.

Redeeming Your Voucher

Once you're ready to actually buy the device, here's the process:

• You'll get a welcome email after your pre-reserve is confirmed, with your voucher code clearly listed.
• Visit samsung.com/in or the Samsung Shop App to purchase the new Galaxy device using that voucher.
• Important: log in with the exact same ID, phone number or email, that you used when you first pre-reserved. If you pre-reserved as a guest, log in with the phone number tied to your shipping address instead.

What If You Don't End Up Buying?

If you don't redeem your voucher within the pre-booking period, it gets cancelled automatically, and Samsung refunds your Rs 999 to your original payment method once that period ends. So there's no real financial risk in reserving your spot early.

One limit to know: the pre-reserve benefit can only be claimed once per mobile number or email ID, so you can't stack multiple passes for extra savings.

A Bonus Chance to Win
