How To Check For Traffic Violations And Pay Fine Online Using E-Challan
A few months back, the new Motor Vehicles Act was introduced by the government. As per the new act, there will be heavy fines for those who break the rules. There are new rules that have been introduced with the intention to save several lives that were lost due to road accidents every year.
To make sure people adhere to these new traffic rules, there are cameras on the Indian roads to find out traffic violations. These violations result in the generation of e-challan. Even traffic police can issue the e-challan for the violation of traffic rules. Notably, challans can be paid both online and offline.
How To Check And Pay Traffic Fine Online
Here, you will get to know how to check and pay for the traffic violations online.
Step 1: Visit the E-Challan website from your mobile or laptop. It is a 'One Nation One Challan' initiative. On this page, you will get an option stating 'Check Challan Status'.
Step 2: There are options for you to search for challans using your license number or challan number or vehicle registration number. Key in any of these details and the captcha to proceed.
Step 3: As soon as you enter either of these details, the challan details will be displayed. Sometimes, two different challans can be seen on using the vehicle number and license number separately. So, if you want to know all the challans issued against your vehicle, you should search using both ways.
Step 4: After generating the challan details, you can hit 'Pay Now' to make the online payment.
Step 5: To make the payment, you should verify your mobile number using the OTP you have received on your mobile number. Then, you will be redirected to the e-challan payment website of your respective state.
Step 6: Now, you will be taken to a payment configuration page. Here, click on 'Proceed with Net Payment' and choose the preferred payment gateway such as net banking, card payments, etc.
Note: We need to mention that we could not get the challan as the website showed 'Challan Status Not Found' pop-up on keying in the license and registration numbers. If you want to try other options, there are third-party platforms to pay for traffic violations respective to your state.
