How to make Google Assistant your default music player

Google Assistant is the voice companion in Android and it is considered the best one right now. It allows you change the settings on your phone, send messages, and look up information with your voice. With Google Assistant being available to more phones now, it is good to maximize your skills with it.

As you know, Google Assistant can play any kind of music for you. If you do not connect the accounts you would like to use, then the ability of it will be limited largely. Here, we will show how you can connect your favorite music service to Google Assistant and make it default.

First, press and hold the Home button in order to open Google Assistant.

Click the blue drawer icon to open the menu of Assistant.

Choose the three-dot menu at the upper right corner and select Settings.

Under the Services header, you should choose Music.

You will see many compatible music services those are installed on your device. You should tap the one that you like to use as default.

If you find your favorite music service under More music services section, click on it and follow the instructions.

This will link the service to your Google account and you can play your favorite music by asking Google Assistant to do so.

After this, whenever you say “Ok Google, play some pop music”, Google Assistant will use your favorite music service. You will save some time as you need not say Spotify every time. If you do not link your account, then Google Assistant cannot use your playlists or stations. If you want to use some other service temporarily, you can say “Ok Google, play a rock station on Pandora”.

This linking will affect only music played by asking the Google Assistant to do so. Especially, it is worth if you are using Android Auto in order to play music in your car while you travel as it will play your favorite tracks faster.
