#1. Delete messages
If your WhatsApp is overloaded with messages, this might be a big reason behind the app crashes. So, delete the unimportant messages and media files.
#2. Clear Cache Data
With so much texting happening over WhatsApp daily, lots of background data gets stored in your phone memory. This might cause unexpected crashing of the app. To resolve, navigate to the Application Manager and clear the cache data stored.

#3. Update WhatsApp
Look for an update for the WhatsApp app. If it is available, update the app. This might help you to get rid of WhatsApp crashes.
#4. Change Of SIM Card
You should remember that WhatsApp works on only one number per device. So if you have changed your number, WhatsApp will not work. So, either you can re-register your WhatsApp account to the new number or insert the old SIM card to make it work.
#5. Re-Install the App
If none of the above tips have worked for you, then the only option you are left with to get rid of the WhatsApp hanging issue is to uninstall WhatsApp from your phone and then re-install it.
