    Search engine giant Google has updated its popular navigation app- Google Maps for Android users. The latest update integrates user's Google Calendar directly into Maps.

    This will allow Android users to see their scheduled calendar entries-upcoming meetings and appointments locations directly into the Google Maps application, thus ending the need to switch between two applications.

    See their Google Calendar events on Google Maps.

    With the new update, Android users worldwide will be able to see their Google Calendar entries on Google Maps. To ensure you see your calendar entries in Google maps app, you will need to ensure that you are logged into both Google Maps and Google Calendar with the same Gmail id.

    Post that you need to enter an address into the "Where" box when you create an event. This will help Google Maps to show your calendar event's location on the map itself.

    The new Upcoming tab

    Google has also introduced a new "Upcoming" tab where you'll see a list of your upcoming events. To see the list of upcoming event, open the sidebar menu > tap "Your Places" > tap "Upcoming."

    You can also hide them by tapping on the event from the map and then tapping "Dismiss." The upcoming tab will show the details about your upcoming flights, hotel or restaurant reservations from Gmail.

    Voice Commands

    Google has recently added the 'OK Google' voice recognition support in its app. The feature comes quite handy if you are driving and cannot access the smartphone. Drivers can simply say 'OK Google', followed by the action the needs Maps to perform, and the map will follow the directions. You can simply command the Google Map app to start navigation, change navigation, or add another route by saying 'Ok Google'.

    You can also label frequently visited places or upcoming destinations

    A recent update to Google Maps also allows you to add stickers to your favorite and most visited destinations like Home, Work, etc. The next time you type the name into the search box in Google Maps, your label will be a suggested result, if you have previously added a label/sticker to the destination.

    Navigate to your Google contacts on Google Map app

    Another nifty addition is the feature to see your Google contacts on Google Maps. To use the new feature, you have to add the address to the contact you want to see on the map application. Post adding the address details, you can get directions by typing their name in the search box.

    You can customize the permissions to Google Maps by opening the side menu > Settings > Personal content. Simply toggle 'On or Off' to grant permissions to Google Maps to display your Upcoming events, Google Contacts or Labels.
