Apple Records Impressive 1st Quarter in 2025, Surpassing Analysts' Forecasts
Apple has reported impressive quarterly results, surpassing analysts' predictions for the period ending in March. The company achieved $95.4 billion in revenue, exceeding the anticipated $94.6 billion, marking a 5% increase from the previous year. Earnings per share reached $1.65, slightly above the forecast of $1.62, representing an 8% rise compared to the same quarter last year.
"Today Apple is reporting strong quarterly results, including double-digit growth in Services," stated CEO Tim Cook. The Services division achieved a record high of $26.65 billion for the quarter, up from $23.87 billion in 2024. However, this milestone may not be surpassed soon due to changes in app monetisation rules affecting developer payments.

Hardware Sales and Regional Performance
The iPhone continues to be Apple's top-selling product, generating $46.84 billion in revenue during the quarter. In contrast, sales of Macs, iPads, and Wearables (including home devices) remained at similar levels but were significantly lower than iPhone sales. Regionally, sales increased in the Americas, Japan, and Asia-Pacific regions, while they remained steady in Europe and China.
Apple's financial performance for the March quarter led to an 8% growth in earnings per share and generated $24 billion in operating cash flow. This enabled Apple to return $29 billion to its shareholders," said Apple CFO Kevan Parekh. The company has also raised its dividend by 4% year-on-year to $0.26 per share, which will be distributed on May 15.
Shareholder Returns and Future Plans
In addition to increasing dividends, Apple has announced a substantial stock buyback programme worth $100 billion. This move is part of Apple's strategy to enhance shareholder value further and demonstrates confidence in its future prospects.
The company's strong financial performance highlights its ability to navigate challenges and maintain growth across various segments despite changing market conditions and regulatory adjustments impacting app monetisation strategies.
