Apple's Swift Student Challenge 2024 Announced: How to Apply, Eligibility, and Rewards
Apple has opened applications for its annual Swift Student Challenge, a global competition designed to identify and recognize talented students aspiring to pursue careers in app development. Participants are tasked with demonstrating their coding proficiency and creativity through innovative app playgrounds.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Swift Student Challenge, applicants must meet specific criteria set by Apple. Participants must be at least 13 years old in the US and 16 years old in the European Union.

Additionally, eligibility requirements vary depending on the region. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited academic institution, a STEM organization's educational curriculum, an Apple Developer Academy, or have graduated from high school within the past six months and await acceptance or have already been accepted into an accredited academic institution.

Participants are required to build an interactive scene using either Swift Playgrounds or Xcode, focusing on a topic of their choice from the provided options. Swift Playgrounds is tailored for beginners, while Xcode is geared towards more experienced coders.
Submissions must not exceed three minutes in duration and should be in app playground format (.swiftpm) within a ZIP file. The submission should be playable offline and include all necessary resources, with a file size not exceeding 25MB. The app playground should run on Swift Playgrounds 4.4 or later, requiring iPadOS 16 or macOS 13.5, or later, or Xcode 15 on macOS 13.5, or later.
Rewards
Apple will select 350 winners who will receive recognition, a one-year membership to the Apple Developer Program, a voucher for the App Development with Swift certification exam, and a special gift from Apple.
Additionally, this year, Apple will identify 50 outstanding submissions as 'Distinguished Winners,' who will be invited to Cupertino headquarters for a three-day event in the summer.
During this event, selected winners will have the opportunity to engage with Apple experts and engineers, participate in various activities, and more. Travel and lodging expenses for the event will be covered by Apple.
