Flipkart to Launch Same-Day Delivery in India's Major Cities
Flipkart, a prominent player in the Indian e-commerce landscape, recently unveiled plans to introduce same-day delivery services in select regions of India.
While the company has not specified an exact launch date, it outlined a broad timeline, indicating that the service will commence in February. The rollout will initially target 20 cities, with a subsequent expansion to encompass all regions of the country.

Initial Rollout Details
The initial 20 cities set to experience Flipkart's same-day delivery service include Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Coimbatore, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Patna, Raipur, Siliguri, and Vijayawada.
Eligible product categories for this expedited delivery option encompass mobiles, fashion, beauty items, lifestyle products, books, home appliances, and electronics.
Operational Guidelines for Users
For customers to avail themselves of the same-day delivery service, orders for eligible items must be placed by 1 pm. Flipkart guarantees delivery before midnight for orders meeting this deadline. Orders placed after 1 pm will be scheduled for delivery on the subsequent day.
Flipkart's Vision for Same-Day Delivery
Hemant Badri, Flipkart's Senior Vice President, expressed the company's commitment to enhancing customer satisfaction by providing swift deliveries. Badri emphasized the initial focus on 20 cities and hinted at an extended rollout in the coming months, encompassing additional cities and product categories, including large appliances.
Competitive Landscape with Amazon
Flipkart's move into same-day delivery places it in direct competition with Amazon, a key rival in the Indian e-commerce sector. Amazon already offers a variety of delivery options, including same-day, one-day, and two-day delivery, primarily through its Prime membership. Non-Prime users on Amazon incur additional fees for express delivery, with rates ranging from ₹125 to ₹175 per item.
