Google Chrome Getting Circle to Search-Like Feature for Desktop
Google Chrome is reportedly getting a new feature called "Drag to Search," similar to the "Circle to Search" function. This feature is now accessible on ChromeOS 127 and Chrome 128 beta versions for both Windows and macOS users. By selecting "Search with Google Lens" from Chrome's overflow menu, users can circle any on-screen element to initiate a search.
Accessing Drag to Search
On desktops, this feature is known as "Drag to Search." ChromeOS users can find it by clicking the new Google Lens icon in the address bar. For Windows and macOS users, it can be accessed through the overflow menu by selecting "Search with Google Lens." Additionally, this option can be pinned to the side panel for easier access.

The "Circle to Search" feature was initially launched on Galaxy S24 and Pixel 8 phones. It allows users to search for information based on visual content effortlessly. This functionality has now been adapted for desktop use under the name "Drag to Search."
How Drag to Search Works
Users can search for any content by dragging a box around the area they are interested in on their computer screen. Once a box is drawn around the desired content, search results appear instantly in a side panel. This allows users to continue browsing while viewing the search results simultaneously.
This new feature processes the selected area immediately, displaying relevant search results in a side panel. This enables continuous browsing of the original page while checking out the search results at the same time.
The availability of this feature in official beta channels suggests that a broader release is imminent. However, there is no specific date announced for when it will be available to all users. This innovative addition aims to enhance the user experience by making searches more intuitive and integrated into daily browsing activities.
